Firefighters rushed to the rescue of residents and even a feline at a Ridgewood home that caught fire last Saturday afternoon, Aug. 18, it was reported. According to FDNY sources, the one-alarm blaze broke out at around 5:30 p.m. on the first-floor of a multifamily home on Bleecker Street near Cypress Avenue. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 271, 291 218 and 277; Ladder companies 124, 112 and 140; Squad Co. 252; Rescue 4 and Battalions 28 and 37- under the direction of Division 14-along with the 104th Precinct and EMS units. While no human residents were injured, a firefighter pulled a cat (bottom photo) trapped inside the burning apartment; the feline was not seriously injured. One hose line was used by firefighters to bring the blaze under control, an FDNY source said.
