FRESH MEADOWS — A man entered a Fresh Meadows gas station with a gun earlier this month, shot a round into the ceiling and demanded money from the worker at the register, police said. The authorities are asking the public’s help in finding the gunman.
Police said the man went into the Savvy gas station with a gun in his hand July 20 at 11:30 p.m. and told the man at the register to give him money, police said.
The gun-wielding robber fired into the ceiling, at which point the victim gave the man some money, police said. The suspect fled the scene after the attack, police said.
No one was injured in the incident, police said.
The suspect is a black or dark-skinned Hispanic man, about 25 to 30 years old, police said. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weights 170 pounds and has an unknown tattoo on his right forearm, police said. When last seen, he was wearing blue jeans, a red baseball cap with a Yankees logo and a T-shirt with a series of pictures on it that reads “New York,” police said.
