JAMAICA — The NYPD was seeking the public’s assistance in locating Darren Hicks, a young man suspected in 11 gunpoint robberies of delivery drivers and store employees throughout southeast Queens.
Police described the 28-year-old Hicks as a black male standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 150 to 180 pounds.
In 11 different incidents from July 3 to Aug. 2, Hicks allegedly pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded cash and property from victims, the police said.
The robberies took place July 3 in front of the J&C Grocery store on Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in South Jamaica July 10, inside the Subway restaurant on Rockaway Boulevard in Meadowmere Park July 15 and inside the Cambria Car Wash and Detailing Center on Linden Boulevard in Cambria Heights.
Another incident took place July 17 in front of the C-Town Supermarket on Jamaica Avenue in Hollis as well as July 18 at the intersection of 114th Drive and Farmers Boulevard in St. Albans, July 21 outside the Farmbria Food Center on Linden Boulevard in Cambria Heights and later that day inside the Fine Fare Supermarket on Hollis Avenue in Hollis.
Police said Hicks also allegedly struck July 24 at the corner of Hillside Avenue and 179th Street in Jamaica, Aug. 2 outside the Key Food Supermarket on Jamaica Avenue in Queens Village and a half-hour later in front of the Rite Aid on Linden Boulevard in Cambria Heights.
