A Queens woman died yesterday after a taxi hit her as she was trying to cross an Upper East Side street, said police.
Pelagia Zingatan, 65, of Jamaica, was struck around 1:00 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 69th Street and 1st Avenue.
She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The victim, a medical secretary at the nearby Sloan-Kettering, was trapped under the cab’s tire and several witnesses to the accident lifted her from underneath, trying to save her life, reported the New York Post.
