FAR ROCKAWAY — Police said they arrested a man taking up more than his fair share of space on the A train after it was revealed he not only allegedly had a warrant out for his arrest, but also a loaded gun in his backpack.
Officers patrolling the 80th Street-Hudson Avenue station along the A train line removed 28-year-old Omar Gillespie from the train when they saw him allegedly sprawled out across multiple seats, police said.
During their investigation the officers found Gillespie had a warrant out for his arrest, and a search of his knapsack allegedly turned up a loaded .38 caliber Charter Arms revolver, according to the NYPD.
Gillespie was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
