Two paramedics who helped pull three people to safety after their car had become trapped in the flooded Cooper Avenue underpass on the Glendale/Middle Village border on Aug. 15 were honored for their service by City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley at City Hall last Wednesday, Sept. 12. As noted, EMTs Jimmy Guailacela and Marilyn Arroyo received proclamations for saving the lives of Sr. Claudia Bradshaw and Mary and Joseph Lawrence, who became trapped in a car during a flash flood at the underpass. Crowley along with City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and members of the City Council Queens delegation were on hand for the award ceremony, which took place during the Council’s stated meeting.
