Passenger attacks two others with a knife in Jamaica subway station: MTA

An argument that started onboard the J Train ended when a disgruntled passenger slashed two others with a knife as they rode a crowded escalator inside the Jamaica subway station, according to the MTA.

A spokeswoman for the authority said shocked straphangers ran up to the street level at the Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue station to alert MTA police after Dina Saint-Fleur allegedly attacked a man and woman with a knife around 8:55 a.m.

Based on the Metropolitan Transit Authority’s preliminary investigation, Saint-Fleur got into an argument with the couple as the train arrived at the station. The dispute apparently continued as they rode the escalator up one level to the E train platform, when the knife-wielding suspect allegedly slashed the man and woman, both 24, the spokeswoman said.

A third passenger — a 42-year old man— was also injured, possibly as a result of being knocked over in the scuffle.

The MTA said all three victims were taken to Jamaica Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and Saint-Fleur was taken into custody by the MTA police.

No official charges had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
