A police officer was injured after the unmarked patrol car he was operating collided with a sports utility vehicle at a Maspeth intersection last Thursday afternoon, Sept. 6, it was reported. Fire Department sources said the collision occurred at around 3 p.m. at the corner of Maurice Avenue and Borden Avenue westbound. The impact of the crash reportedly caused the SUV to overturn. Members of Squad Co. 288, Engine Co. 259, Ladder Co. 128, the 104th Precinct, NYPD Emergency Services Unit 10, Highway Patrol Unit 3 and EMS units responded to the scene. Both the police officer and the driver of the SUV were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries which were not life-threatening.
