Unknown Gunman Opens Fire In B’Wick
Police are asking the public for information leading to the arrest of an unidentified gunman who walked up to and shot a 38-year-old man at a Bushwick intersection last Thursday, Aug. 30.
The victim was listed in stable condition at a local hospital after suffering a bullet wound to his left leg.
Law enforcement sources said the shooting took place just before 8:40 p.m. last Thursday in the vicinity of Hancock Street and Wilson Avenue.
Reportedly, the victim was walking through the area when he was approached by the male suspect, who was observed wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and ski goggles.
Police said the perpetrator pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the victim, one of which struck the left calf. Following the gunfire, the suspect fled from the scene in an unknown direction.
Members of the 83rd Precinct and EMS units responded to the location. The injured man was brought to Kings County Hospital Center for treatment.
Various police units conducted a land-and-air search for the suspected shooter; despite their efforts, no immediate arrests were made, according to authorities.
The 83rd Precinct Detective Squad is investigating the shooting, police said.
