Fall Festival In Flushing Oct. 14
Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing will usher in autumn with their annual Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch celebration on Sunday, Oct. 14.
As noted, the family-friendly event will take place from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the garden located at 43-50 Main St. Activities (with exception to the pumpkin patch and face painting) are free with paid admission.
The festival will celebrate the season with food, live music, seasonal marketplace, craft beers, garden worskshops and tours, children’s activities and vendors.
The event schedule is as follows:
– 11 a.m., the Lonesome Moonlight String Band will perform an acoustic set;
– 11 a.m. to noon, a bird and nature walk led by Queens Botanical Garden staffer Shari Romar;
– 11:30 a.m. to noon, poety reading by the Fresh Meadows Poets;
– 12:30 to 1 p.m., a tai-chi demonstration;
– 1:15 to 2:30 p.m., another per- formance by the Lonesome Moonlight String Band;
– 1:30 to 2 p.m., a gardening demonstration led by Gardener Karl McKoy;
– 2 to 2:30 p.m., a spinning wheel demonstration;
– 2 to 3 p.m., a garden tour led by Executive Director Susan Lacerte;
– 3 to 3:30 p.m., a glass painting demonstration with Cristina Cipriani;
– 3:15-4:30 p.m., a musical performance by The Bakersfield Breakers.

To reach the Onderdonk House by bus, take the Q54 on Metropolitan Avenue to Flushing Avenue (then walk west for three blocks) or the B57 on Flushing Avenue, which stops in front of the location. Visitors can reach the Onderdonk House by subway by taking the L train to Jefferson Street (then walk five blocks east on Flushing Avenue).
