Gottschee Fills Their Trophy Case

Win Columbus Day Tourneys

During the Columbus Day weekend, Blue Weiss Gottschee soccer teams participated in the traditional 2012 Brooklyn Italian Tournament winning the 7-, 8-, 9- and 10-year old Elite divisions.

The seven-year-olds (U8 Royals) tied against Soccer ABC 4-4, but won games against Brooklyn Italians, Mineola and Eastern FC to take their first title in their short soccer history.

The eight-year-olds (U8 Blue) won all four games to qualify for the final where they beat SDFC Corinthians 2-1.

The nine-year-olds (U9 Blue) were the third Gottschee unbeaten team to be crown the Elite Division Title, going undefeated. In the finals against Mineola, the team rallied back from a 3-1 deficit to go up 4-3, but Mineola came back to tie. Gottschee would prevail on penalty kicks to take the U9 title.

Finally, the 10-year-olds (U10 Blue) won games against Future Stars, Eastern FC, NY Premiere, Brooklyn Italians and in the final beat FC Porto 2-0.

The BW Gottschee U13 Blue team made it to the finals against Dix Hills 99s, but came up short.

Meanwhile, the BW Gottschee U10 girls won the Grey Bracket at the Northport Cow Harbor Columbus weekend, winning all 4 games and scoring 16 goals, conceding none in the process.
