Grabs Cash At Ozone Pk. Phone Shop

An armed bandit came calling at a cell phone store in Ozone Park last Thursday night, Sept. 27, and swiped several hundred dollars in cash during the stickup, according to police.

The robber, described by authorities as an African-American male believed to be between 30 and 40 years of age standing between 5’2″ and 5’7″ tall, remains at large as of press time.

Reportedly, the holdup took place just before 7:40 p.m. last Thursday at a shop located in the vicinity of Cross Bay Boulevard and 107th Avenue.

According to police, the crook walked into the location and confronted the lone female employee working there at the time. He reportedly displayed a firearm and demanded cash.

After removing an undisclosed amount of currency, law enforcement sources said, the suspect fled from the store; he was last observed walking eastbound across Cross Bay Boulevard.

Members of the 106th Precinct responded to the scene. The victim was not injured.

Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for the perpetrator; despite their efforts, it was noted, no immediate arrests were made.

The investigation by the 106th Precinct Detective Squad is ongoing, police said.
