A driver was busted by police for allegedly driving drunk after being involved in a two-car crash at a Maspeth intersection last Saturday morning, Sept. 29, it was reported. Fire Department sources said the collision took place at 4:30 a.m. at the corner of 69th Street and Grand Avenue, near the Long Island Expressway. On the scene were members of nearby Squad Co. 288, Ladder Co. 136, the 104th Precinct and EMS units. Two people were taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center for treatment of injuries which were not life-threatening. The suspected drunk driver, identified by law enforcement sources as 24-year-old Angel Avila of 83rd Street in East Elmhurst, was taken into custody by police after reportedly exhibiting signs of intoxication. According to the Queens District Attorney’s office, he was booked on drunk driving charges after a breathalyzer test found that his blood alcohol content was 0.132, well above the legal 0.08 limit.
