An imposing 220-pound Queens gym teacher alleges he was knocked out of work by a 50-pound first grader.
John Webster, a gym teacher at P.S. 330 in Elmhurst, told the NY Post that he suffered a fractured ankle and injured his knee last April during a tantrum by then first-grader Rodrigo Carpio.
“I tried to hold his wrists, and he began biting me,’’ Webster told the paper. “I took him to the principal’s office, and he kicked me in the ankle, and one kick landed right on my knee. I felt a pop.’’
Webster was ordered back to work by a Department of Education doctor last month, but his doctor suggested he stay away from work for a few months, the Post reported. The former college running back filed a notice of intent to sue the city.
“The lawsuit is totally absurd,” Rodrigo’s father, Jorge Carpio, told the Post. “How could my little boy do so much damage? My poor son.”
An “occurrence report” filed by the school in April said Carpio was “physically aggressive” and kicked Webster in the knee and ankle that day, according to the Post.
