RICHMOND HILL — A 14-month-old girl, who had not been riding in a car seat, was in serious condition at Long Island Jewish Hospital after a two-car crash in Richmond Hill involving the minivan she was riding in Monday, according to a report in the New York Post.
The child, which the Post identified as Gianna Gonzalez, was in the minivan with her grandmother and the driver, family friend Jose Santiago, 67.
According to the Post, the other vehicle, a Honda, was owned by a local driving school, D & E Driving School.
It was not clear who had the right of way and the driver of the Honda passed a Breathalyzer test, but Santiago was issued a summons for not having a child seat in the car, the Post reported.
