They’ll March Instead On Nov. 11
The ongoing recovery effort following the “perfect storm” once known as Hurricane Sandy has forced the fourth-annual Queens Veterans’ Day Parade to be delayed by a week, it was announced.
Organized by the Queens Veterans’ Day Parade Committee, the Middle Village march will instead take place on Veterans’ Day itself, Sunday, Nov. 11, at noon. Participants will step off from the corner of Metropolitan Avenue and 80th Street. The parade was to have taken place this Sunday, Nov. 4.
Hundreds are expected to take part in the march saluting all those who served in defense of the nation, with local veterans groups leading the way. Onlookers can expect to see a number of marching bands, classic automobiles, military vehicles and a number of special guests and dignitaries.
The parade will move west along Metropolitan Avenue from 80th Street to Christ the King Regional High School, located near Rentar Plaza. A ceremony honoring certain VIPs in attendance at the high school will conclude the festivities.
All are invited to bring a flag, watch the parade from the Metropolitan Avenue sidewalk and pay tribute to veterans of previous wars.
