FAR ROCKAWAY — The Police Department was looking for help identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a citywide robbery pattern, police said.
According to police, a 5-foot-11 black male suspect between the ages of 28 and 32 and weighing between 200 and 250 pounds, was wanted in connection with robberies throughout the city, including Dec. 4 at 10:30 p.m. in Far Rockaway.
On that date, police said the suspect, armed with a gun, followed a 58-year-old woman into the elevator of her apartment building and demanded her purse before forcibly removing it from her and fleeing.
The suspect also followed a 28-year-old Asian victim Dec. 8 around 12:48 a.m. into the elevator of her apartment building in the East Village and demanded her property, stealing her handbag and cellphone, police said.
A similar incident occurred the same day around 10:50 p.m. when the suspect followed an 85-year-old woman into her building on West 13th Street in Manhattan and demanded money, the NYPD said. The following day, police said the suspect also followed a 22-year-old woman into her apartment elevator Dec. 9 at 5:35 p.m. before stealing her handbag.
