ASTORIA — The city Police Department was looking for help in identifying one suspect wanted in connection with a bank robbery pattern across the borough, police said.
According to police, the suspect entered banks across the 104th, 108th, 114th and 115th precincts, in which he passed a note to tellers demanding money before stealing cash. The suspect also showed a handgun from inside a newspaper or his waistband, police said.
Police described the suspect as a black or Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 35, anywhere between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot and somewhere between 180 and 200 pounds. He wore a blue shirt, jeans, sunglasses and a New York Yankees baseball cap, the NYPD said.
The five incidents associated with the suspect occurred July 17 at the 78-01 37th Ave. Amalgamated Bank in the 115th Precinct, Aug. 10 at the 74-03 Metropolitan Ave. Chase Bank in the 104th Precinct, Aug. 20 at the 22-15 43rd Ave. HSBC Bank in the 108th Precinct, Oct. 13 at the 28-56 Steinway St. Chase Bank in the 114th Precinct and Dec. 12 at the 77-01 31st Ave. Chase Bank in the 115h Precinct, police said.
