FREDERICK B. RUECKHER
JR. died on Saturday, January 19, at
the age of 79. He and his wife Patricia were married for almost 48 years.
Born on December 17, 1933 and
raised in Ridgewood, Fred moved to
Middle Village and just recently relocated to the surrounding Long
Beach, L.I. area.
In addition to his wife, Pat, Fred
is survived by his two sons, Frederick III and Niall, his daughter,
Niamh, and grandchildren Paolo,
Niall and Eva Liesl. He is also survived by numerous other relatives
and friends. Fred was a decorated 23-
year employee of the Department of
Sanitation and a U.S. Navy veteran
who served during the Korean War.
A Mass of Christian Burial was
offered at Blessed Sacrament
Church, Brooklyn, by Fr. Frank
Shannon, followed by interment at
Calverton National Cemetery,
Calverton, L.I., under the direction of
Hillebrand Funeral Home, 63-17
Woodhaven Blvd., Rego Park.

FLORIAN JURAN of Hawley, Pa.,
died on Saturday, January 5, at the
age of 90. He was preceded in death
by his wife, the former Veronika
Ablasser, on January 16, 1999. The
couple married on August 12, 1950
in Austria.
Born on May 3, 1922 in
Gottschee, Yugoslavia (now Slovenia), he was the son of the late Andreas and Maria Juran. He and his
wife immigrated to the United States
in 1952. He became a machinist
working for several companies in the
New York City area. They raised
their family in Ridgewood and Glendale before moving to Hawley in
1977.
Florian was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church in White
Mills, Pa., and assisted in the renovations of St. Bernard’s Church in
Beach Lake, Pa. He was also a member of the Lake Wallenpaupack German American Club.
Florian is survived by his son
Erwin “Gersh” Juran of Hawley; his
daughter Belinda Juran and son-inlaw Evan Schapiro of Lowell, Mass.;
his sister Anna Fortescue of Glendale; and his granddaughter Kaity
Juran.
A Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated on January 8 at St.
Bernard’s Church, Beach Lake, Pa.,
followed by interment at St. Mary’s
Cemetery, Honesdale, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the White Mills Fire Co., PO
Box 256, White Mills, PA 18473, in
gratitude for all the members’ help to
Florian over the years.

ERICH BRINSKELLE died on
Tuesday, January 22. A native of
Wiederzug, Gottschee, Yugoslavia,
he was the beloved son of the late
Franz and Rosalia, loving brother of
Ida Burdyn, Anni Perz, Heinrich,
Rudolf and the late Mitzi, Franz,
Josef, Julius & Johann and devoted
uncle of many loving nieces and
nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial
was offered at Our Lady of the
Miraculous Medal Church, Ridgewood, followed by interment at Linden Hill Cemetery, Ridgewood,
under the direction of Hillebrand Funeral Homes, Inc., 63-17 Woodhaven
Blvd., Rego Park.

JOAN KNOLHOFF of Maspeth
died on Tuesday, January 22, at the
age of 81. A native of Jersey City,
N.J., she was the dear sister of Raymond and Mary and beloved aunt of
many nieces, nephews, grand nieces
and grand nephews. A private cremation was held at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, followed later
by interment of cremated remains at
the Cemetery of the Evergreens,
Brooklyn, under the direction of
Peter J. Geis Funeral Home, 57-34

TIMOTHY S. CLIFFORD died on
Tuesday, January 22, at the age of
78,. He was the beloved husband of
Marina S. Clifford and loving father
of Mary Anne, Susan, Steven,
Flordeliza, Gerry and Jimmy. A Mass

NICHOLAS COMODO died on
Tuesday, January 22, at the age of 78.
He was the husband of the late Elizabeth R. Comodo, loving father of
Paulette Comodo, Marc Comodo,
Nicholas Comodo and Lisa LoDico,
father-in-law of Michele and Gaetano, cherished grandfather of Kristen, Marcus, Shianne, Nicholas,
Savannah and Christina and dear
brother of Larry Comodo, Mary Pfaff
and Louie Comodo. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews
and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Friday, January 25,
at St. Adalbert Church, Elmhurst, followed by interment at St. Charles
Cemetery, Farmingdale, L.I., under

Flushing died on Sunday, January 27,
at the age of 81. A native of Queens,
he was the husband of the late Christine and loving son of Daniel McKechnie and Kathleen Gibson.

GEORGE D. PAPPAS died on Friday, January 25, at the age of 77. He
was the beloved husband of Carmela
Pappas, loving brother of Christina

cherished great-uncle of Alicia,
