Christ the King’s Severe Takes Home League Mvp

School Headlines List Of League Awards

Christ the King senior guard Jon Severe was selected Saturday, Feb. 16, as the Catholic High School Athletic Association’s AA Player of the Year.

Christ the King senior point guard Malik Harmon received All-league Third Team honors from the Catholic High School Athletic Association.

Severe is widely considered the best unsigned senior in the city, scoring more than 23 points per game and leading the CK Royals to a 14-1 league record this season.

Severe’s services have reportedly been sought after by some of the nation’s top college basketball programs including Alabama, Indiana, Tennessee, West Virginia and Miami. He has also been linked to local colleges like St. John’s and Rutgers.

Severe was named to the All- CHSAA Second Team last season.

Also receiving regular season honors were CK’s senior forward Jordan Fuchs, who accepted a football scholarship to the University of Connecticut last month, and senior guard Malik Harmon. Fuchs was selected to the All-CHSAA First Team and Harmon was named to the All- CHSAA Third Team.

This marked the third consecutive year the Royals have had at least three members of the team represented on the all-league team.

It is also the third time in five seasons that the league’s top player has been a member of the CK Royals. Duquesne University’s Sean Johnson accomplished the feat in 2009 and UConn’s Omar Calhoun took home the honors last season.
