BAYSIDE — An electrical failure on a line running under the roadbed of the Northern Boulevard overpass spanning the Clearview Expressway caused a massive shutdown of both thoroughfares last weekend, according to Consolidated Edison and the FDNY.
Northbound lanes of the Clearview Expressway were shut down from Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning as crews worked to repair the line and clean up material that had fallen onto the highway, according to Con Ed.
The smell of burnt rubber wafted down the corridor of the thoroughfare and cars travelling along Northern Boulevard were also prohibited from crossing over the Clearview well into Sunday.
