Students at Maspeth’s I.S. 73 once again showed their charitable side by taking part in charitable drives benefiting abused children as well as local veterans. As noted, one drive involved the collection of greeting cards which were sent to St. Jude’s Ranch for abused, abandoned and neglected children. The gently used cards are recycled and sold to fund theraputic programs. The youngsters also created Valentine’s Day cards for veterans at the St. Albans Veterans Extended Care Facility as part of Assemblyman Mike Miller’s “Valentines for Vets” program.
