The trial for the Forest Hills man known as the “Cannibal Cop” began in Manhattan federal court Monday with Gilberto Valle’s estranged wife testifying about how she discovered his alleged plot to kidnap, rape, murder and cannibalize a number of women.

Kathleen Mangan-Valle broke out in tears several times as she told the jury how she discovered files on the computer her husband used that contained information, such as the names, occupations and weights, on numerous women he is accused of planning to abuse.

“All of a sudden I was staring at me, pictures of my friends,” she said. “I was going to be tied up by my feet and my throat slit.”

Mankan-Valle went to the FBI and her husband, then an NYPD officer, was charged with conspiracy to kidnap and illegally accessing a law-enforcement database.

Valle’s lawyer claims his fetish is pure fantasy and that he never intended to act it out.
