Though the actual holiday is this Sunday, Mar. 17, residents around Glendale and Maspeth couldn’t wait to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as they enjoyed good times at local dinner/dances held last weekend. Parishioners and guests came to St. Pancras School in Glendale last Saturday night, Mar. 9, for their dance, which included a live performance of Irish and rock music by the Boston Burglars. The following day, Sunday, Mar. 10, Maspeth Town Hall Community Center held their annual Irish celebration at nearby St. Adalbert School in Elmhurst, which featured a performance by the Bill Hickey Band. At both events, guests danced to the live music, enjoyed fine Irish food and fare, as well as good company. Shown in photos #1, #2, #3 & #4 are the participants at the St. Pancras dance, while those at the Maspeth Town Hall Irish celebration are shown in photos #5, #6, #7 & #8. The Bill Hickey Band is shown below performing some traditional Irish favorites.
