The Community Environmental Center Eco House-a mobile, free environmental education exhibit-was unveiled at the Dutch Kills Playground in Long Island City last Thursday, Mar. 7, with a ceremony attended by City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and education representatives. As noted, the Eco House is a 21st century classroom resembling a house on wheels which aims to help students of all ages understand how to save energy, understand household income and protect the natural world around them. Van Bramer is shown along with Richard Cherry, Community Environmental Center founder and president; Yvonne Leimsider, principal of I.S. 204; Katherine Gloede, project manager of the Eco House; Community Education Council District 30 representative Ernie Brooks and parents and students from I.S. 204.
