Looking & Staying Fit at Corona Fashion Show

Modern fashion and heart health awareness were the themes of the second-annual “Women’s Heart Health and Fashion” event at the Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities Center in Corona last Tuesday night, Mar. 19. Hosted by City Council Member Julissa Ferreras, 400 individuals attended the event, which included an awards ceremony for community leaders, heart health screenings, nutritional demonstrations, arts and crafts for kids and zumba instruction from a fitness trainer. There was also a fashion show hosted by Univision news anchor Nilda Rosario featuring models showcasing JCPenney apparel. Among the groups sponsoring the event were the Queens Museum of Art, Elmhurst Hospital Center, Plaza Del Sol Family Health Center, the Dominic A. Murray 21 Memorial Foundation, Betty’s Catering, Ballet Mestizo and The Perna Foundation.
