Firefighters rushed to the Fresh Pond Railyard in Glendale on Tuesday afternoon, Apr. 9, to extinguish a brush fire that spread to a nearby pile of railroad ties, it was reported. According to FDNY sources, the blaze ignited at around 3 p.m. inside the rail facility off the corner of 68th Street and Otto Road. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were Engine companies 286, 291, 271 and 319; Ladder companies 135 and 140 and Battalion 28. There were no injuries reported.
