The 112th Precinct got a helping hand from the command’s Explorers Unit and students from Forest Hills High School during its community graffiti cleanup last Saturday, May 11. As noted, the team of volunteers went around Forest Hills and Rego Park to paint over vandalism on public property. Among those pictured in front of the precinct’s Forest Hills stationhouse were Heidi Harrison Chain, 112th Precinct Community Council president, and P.O. Gigi Redzematovic of the 112th Precinct Community Affairs Unit. Two other graffiti cleanups were scheduled to take place in the Times Newsweekly coverage area last Saturday but were cancelled due to forecasts of inclement weather. The 104th Precinct rescheduled their precinct-wide cleanup to take place this Saturday, May 18, weather permitting. For further information or to participate, call P.O. Thomas Bell of the 104th Precinct Community Affairs Unit at 1-718-386-2431 or send an email to thomas.bell@nypd.org. Additionally, the Juniper Juniors-the youth branch of the Juniper Park Civic Association-will hold a cleanup at the corner of Fresh Pond Road and Eliot Avenue on the Middle Village/Ridgewood border this Saturday morning at 10 a.m. For details, contact Len Santoro by email at lenbarbsan@gmail.com.
