After losing their first four games of the season, the DEA Hitmen got back on the winning track, sweeping their double header against the Heavy Hitters last Monday, Apr. 29.
Game 1
The first game had plenty of action and ended with a 17-13 win for DEA. The Hitmen pounded out 23 hits to the Hitters’ 15. Four long balls from DEA made all the difference in netting them a win.
Melvin Batista went yard in the first with a two-run shot, Andy Puglisi followed in the second with a two-run shot, Dennis Torres lead off the sixth with a solo and Chris Rodrigo hit a two-run shot later that inning.
Heavy Hitters’ Freddy Sot went porch in the third with a three-run shot and had five RBIs in the game.
Game 2
The next game was another slugfest-each team pounded 14 hits.
DEA took the lead in the seventh inning, and with two out, Dennis Torres ripped a base-clearing grand slam to LFC, giving DEA some insurance.
The Hitters left two stranded in the seventh and didn’t add any runs
In addition to Torres’ slam, Steve Stiller hit a dinger. Freddy Soto of the Heavy Hitters had a pair of homers in the loss (a two-run shot in the first and a solo in the third), but it was not enough to propel the Hitters to victory.
