The contributions of three local crossing guards were celebrated with a ceremony last Friday, Apr. 26, at the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council. Part of the national commemoration of School Crossing Guard Recognition Day, NYPD Crossing Guards Civita Forte, Kathleen Riehl and Theresa Smith received plaques from Assemblymen Mike Miller and Michael DenDekker. Joining them at the event were Capt. Christopher Manson, commanding officer of the 104th Precinct; P.O. Tony Jimenez of the 104th Precinct Community Affairs Unit; Democratic District Leader Frank Kotnik; and representatives of DC37, Local 372 and the 104th Precinct Community Council.
