OZONE PARK — A man was struck and killed while crossing between 87th and 88th streets in Ozone Park May 16, and a 25-year-old man was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle without the owner’s consent, the NYPD said.
Police said Joel Rodriguez was driving a Toyota westbound on Atlantic Avenue when the vehicle struck 73-year-old Rafael Diaz around 7:23 p.m.
Diaz was pronounced dead soon after at Jamaica Hospital, the NYPD said.
Rodriguez, who also lives in Ozone Park, was also charged with equipment safety glass violation, police said.
