Cops Seek Clues In R.H. Slaying

Police are searching for a person of interest in connection with the deadly stabbing of a Richmond Hill man who was found by officers wounded at a neighborhood intersection early on Sunday morning, May 12.

Law enforcement sources said 21- year-old Stephen James of 116th Street was spotted by members of the 106th Precinct injured at the corner of Liberty Avenue and 123rd Street at around 3:50 a.m.

The officers contacted EMS units for further assistance after James told them he had been stabbed. Paramedics rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment and was initially listed in stable condition with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

However, according to police, James’ condition took a turn for the worse later on Sunday afternoon. Detectives were informed by doctors the following morning, Monday, May 13, that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.

James’ body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.

On Tuesday afternoon, May 14, police released an image of the person wanted for further questioning in the case. As of press time Wednesday, May 15, no arrests were made.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the 106th Precinct Detective Squad and the NYPD Queens Homicide Squad.
