Tough Guy Wanted For Woodside Assault

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who randomly punched a passenger while riding the 7 train in Woodside earlier this month in an assault caught on video.

Law enforcement sources said the attack took place at around 1 a.m. on May 5 on board a Flushing-bound 7 train as it approached the 69th Street station.

As shown in the video-which was recorded by a passenger on the train-the perpetrator stood in the center of the train car next to the victim, who sat near one of the doors.

Shortly before the train came to a stop, police said, the suspect punched the sitting victim, then ran out of the car after the doors opened. He reportedly fled from the 69th Street station in an unknown direction.

The video was received by the NYPD Central Robbery Queens Transit Squad last Friday, May 10, and released to the media the following day.

Law enforcement sources described the assailant as a white or Hispanic male standing 5’9″-tall, weighing 180 lbs. with brown eyes and long black hair with a pony tail. He was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt and blue jeans.

The investigation is ongoing.
