Homeless Man Charged With Gruesome Stabbing
Detectives collared a homeless man last Tuesday, June 4, for allegedly stabbing a Woodside woman to death inside her home earlier that day and attempting to clean up the bloody mess left behind, law enforcement sources reported.
Police said the undomiciled Pedro Sanchez, 38, allegedly killed Katherine Seeber, 32, inside her residence on 55th Street in Woodside sometime between noon and 5:50 p.m. last Tuesday afternoon.
Sanchez was seen by an eyewitness speaking with Seeber at the residence at around noon last Tuesday, according to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office.
That same eyewitness reportedly visited Seeber’s home at around 5 p.m. and found Sanchez cleaning items in the kitchen. Law enforcement sources stated Sanchez’s hands were allegedly covered in blood, and he later carried out of the home several large garbage bags containing blankets and other items.
When the witness began using an iPhone to record Sanchez’s actions, police said, the suspect allegedly punched the individual in the face, took the phone and fled from the location.
Seconds later, the witness confronted P.O. Alexander Wenzell of the 114th Precinct and notified him of the theft. Wenzell reportedly spotted Sanchez running from the location and pursued him on foot.
The officer collared the suspect in the vicinity of 53rd Street and 32nd Avenue and, despite resistance, placed Sanchez under arrest.
At around 5:30 p.m., authorities said, police were called to the Seeber home after a second individual found the victim lying on the living room floor in a pool of blood. Reportedly, there were multiple stab wounds and lacerations about her body.
Seeber was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy reportedly conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner concluded that the woman had sustained over 100 stab wounds.
During their investigation, law enforcement sources stated, police recovered the alleged murder weapon-a knife-from the kitchen. According to the criminal complaint, the knife appeared to be covered in bleach and had a hair attached to it.
Following questioning, Sanchez was charged by Det. Shaquan Harvin of the 114th Precinct Detective Squad with second-degree murder, third-degree robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
According to court records, Sanchez was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court last Friday, June 7, and ordered held without bail. He is set to return to court on June 1.
