Bayside has gone mobile.
Gregg Sullivan, founder of baysidelivetv.com, has come out of his Bayside-centric laboratory and emerged with his hometown at the tip of his fingers.
The Bayside mobile application was launched earlier this month and Sullivan showed it off to anyone who wanted a touch over the weekend at Bayside High School’s field day event. The platform took nearly six months to launch and was rolled out this month to showcase all the different facets of Bayside.
“With its unique links to Bayside’s own micromarket TV channel that includes over 50 video documentaries about the town that can now be viewed right through the smartphone app, the Bayside Village app provides a strategic market advantage not yet offered by any other business district in NYC,” Sullivan said.
The app was designed to include a directory of businesses and services, discounts with local merchants and even a look inside Bayside’s music and cultural scene. In the event of a national or regional emergency, Sullivan said the app would also work with nearby fire and police departments to include an alert mode with up-to-the-minute information about Bayside and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Last year, the former executive director of the Bayside Village Business Improvement District launched baysidelivetv.com and has since been seen in the mix of major Bayside events with his camera in hand. The site showcases some of Bayside’s memorable moments, including the treasured Bayside Little League parade.
The site went on to help sponsor a number of Bayside events, including the Bayside Soap Box Derby and the annual Bayside Fire and Safety Awareness Day Music Festival.
Sullivan said the new app and baysidelivetv.com were looking for summer interns and long-term employees with preference given to members of the community. Anyone interested in applying can via e-mail at baysidelivetv.com.
The app can be downloaded at baysideny.us or onto any smartphone by scanning the official Bayside QR code or by logging on to Google Play and typing in “Bayside, New York.”
