The news that the family of Tony Laino, who was killed when a tree fell on his house in Flushing, has filed a lawsuit through their attorney is good to hear.
It was a tragedy losing such a great guy who had everything to live for. There is no question the city Parks Department was negligent for not removing that tree after so many requests were filed by the Lainos and their neighbors for a long time prior to Sandy.
There are so many other trees in Queens that need to be taken down before other senseless tragedies occur. The Parks Department needs to address this potentially dangerous and life-threatening issue immediately.
I wish the Laino family success in their endeavors. You have the support of many people, including this writer.
