The St. Pancras School Robotics Team of Glendale took home the Rising Stars Award at the Queens qualifier for the First Lego League competition, held at the George Ryan Middle School in Flushing. As a result, they clinched a qualifying spot in the league’s city championship in April at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, it was noted. “Cougars United,” as the St. Pancras team is called, worked for a month not only on the design and programming of the robot, but also to raise funds to purchase the needed supplies. In addition to the robotics competition, the Cougars were involved in presenting a project based on how to aid the community in the event of a natural disaster.
