Smoke is shown rising out of the basement of a Ridgewood apartment house that caught fire on Sunday night, Feb. 2, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the one-alarm blaze broke out at about 6:30 p.m. in the cellar of a threestory dwelling in the vicinity of Grove Street and Cypress Avenue. Responding to the scene (listed in the order of arrival) were Engine companies 271, 277, 218 and 237; Ladder companies 124, 112 and 140; Squad Co. 252; Rescue 4; and Battalions 28 and 37-under the direction of Division 14-along with the 104th Precinct and EMS units. There were no reported injuries. One hose line was used by firefighters to bring the inferno under control, an FDNY source said.
