Recycling Event Apr. 6 at Forest Pk. Bandshell

Safely Dispose Of Electronics

State Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo, and Assemblyman Michael Miller are teaming up for another community Recycling Day to be held on Sunday, Apr. 6, rain or shine.

Accepted items include clothing and textiles, electronics, paper, carpeting and household goods. Participants can additionally donate books and eyeglasses.

“I’m thrilled Assemblyman Miller and I are able to bring this annual service to the community. So often, what’s seen as household junk can get overlooked and tossed away, but this is an opportunity to do something productive with that junk. It’s the little things that can make the biggest differences, and something like recycling is one of them,” Addabbo said.

All clothing items, including coats, bedding, linens, paired shoes, belts, hats and handbags, must be clean and dry. Electronics such as TVs, scanners, copiers, printers, batteries, laptops, cameras, and telephones will be accepted, but not appliances. Paper contributions can include paper fiber and confidential papers, which will be shredded as the donor watches, but no cardboard will be accepted.

“I am happy to be able to sponsor this recycling event once again along with State Senator Joe Addabbo. Given last year’s turnout at our recycling event, this is a great opportunity for constituents to bring recyclable items, which otherwise may have been thrown in the trash,” Miller said. “Further, this event allows us to bring light to the important of recycling and its benefits to the environment, including preserving natural resources for future generations.”

Addabbo stated that the recycling event held last Fall breakdown included almost 10 tons of electronics, and slightly over four tons combined of paper, books, clothing and textiles, plus household goods and carpeting that were recycled.

The Apr. 6 event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Forest Park at the George Seuffert Sr. Bandshell parking lot, on Forest Park Drive, one block west of Woodhaven Boulevard in Woodhaven.
