City Council Member Julissa Ferreras and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand recently participated in a special women’s empowerment brunch and public conversation with female community leaders at Corona’s Transfiguration of Christ Greek Orthodox Church. Ferreras and Gillibrand initiated an open dialogue on topics including pay equity, financial and social empowerment, minimum wage, universal pre-kindergarten and minority and women-owned business enterprise. Gillibrand also discussed her “American Opportunity Agenda,” a plan to update federal policies in the workplace. The two lawmakers are pictured with Fr. George Anastasiou, Transfiguration Church pastor, and the forum’s participants.
