In recognition of Women’s History Month, five prominent women in business and public service were honored by Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan and LaGuardia Community College during a luncheon in Long Island City last Friday, Mar. 14. Among those feted at the ceremony was Maureen Walthers (fourth from right), the Times Newsweekly’s publisher and editor. Nolan (fifth from right) and Dr. Gail O. Mellow (fifth from left), president of LaGuardia Community College, praised Walthers and the other honorees for providing years of leadership and distinguished service to the community.
