Cops Still Seeking Clues In Couple’s Slaying

Detectives continue to seek the gun-toting suspect(s) who murdered a young couple in their Ridgewood apartment last Thursday night, Mar. 27, police reported.

Law enforcement sources said the double homicide occurred at about 6:30 p.m. last Thursday inside an apartment house on Summerfield Street near Seneca Avenue.

Officers from the 104th Precinct responded to the location after receiving a 911 call regarding gunfire coming from inside the apartment house.

Upon their arrival, they found Natalie Mejia-Tavares, 21, shot in the torso. A second victim-Louis Oscar Padilla-Lopez, 22-was found unconscious with a gunshot wound to his head.

Paramedics pronounced both victims dead at the scene.

According to published reports, the two victims recently moved into the Summerfield Street apartment. No weapons were found at the crime scene, it was reported.

An investigation by the 104th Precinct Detective Squad and the NYPD Queens Homicide Squad is ongoing, police said.
