WOODSIDE — Police announced the arrest of a 30-year-old Woodside resident believed to be behind 30 separate instances of graffiti on various Queens structures, including City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley’s (D-Middle Village) office.
The 104th Precinct said officers arrested Michael Mestric, 30, April 2 and charged him with dozens of crimes.
Police said the information that led to Mestric’s arrest came from an anonymous tip given to Crowley’s office.
Her staff said her office was tagged a few months ago and believed the building was the target of Mestric.
According to criminal complaints against Mestric, he allegedly spray painted “AOE” and longer versions of the tag name on fences, pedestrian overpasses, retaining walls, a tree, a mailbox, a garage, a restaurant gate and a handful of other structures from May 2013 on.
Mestric has also been charged with violating a court order of protection granted to a woman he allegedly e-mailed photographs of drugs and money to for no legitimate reason, according to the complaints.
