The Blau Weiss Gottschee (BWG) John Benintendo Scholarship Awards have been given to Francesca Giglio from Christ the King High School and Matthew Scimemi from Monsignor McClancy High School. They were each presented with the award on May 7. These two players were selected for their dedication to BWG athletics and academic success at school. With the award, these two players have received athletic scholarships to the college or university of their choice. The award was established in memory of the late Benintendo who started his soccer career as a referee, and then joined BWG as a coach. He coached kids from U-8 to U-18. In 1997 he took a talented team to a state championship.
