Fatally Struck By Car On Avenue

Blocks away from his home, an Ozone Park man was struck and killed by a car along Atlantic Avenue last Saturday night, Apr. 26, police reported.

Law enforcement sources identified the victim as 52-year-old Oscar Pauzhi of 95th Street.

Reportedly, the deadly accident occurred at 9:05 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 107th Street.

According to information obtained by police, a 2006 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 56-year-old man was traveling westbound on Atlantic Avenue in the right lane.

As the vehicle neared 107th Street, authorities stated, Pauzhi entered the roadway in attempting to cross the avenue from south to north and was hit by the vehicle.

The driver reportedly stopped his vehicle and remained at the scene following the accident.

Members of the 102nd Precinct and EMS units rushed to the location. Pauzhi, who suffered severe head trauma, was pronounced dead on arrival at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

No charges were filed against the driver, and no criminality is suspected, sources stated.

An inquiry by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing, police said.
