Lucie Fitzpatrick, a Bayside resident for 40 years before retiring to Florida, died at Forsythe House of Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Fla., May 15. She was 75.
Fitzpatrick was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 2, 1938, to Viola Lauzon and came to the United States to attend nursing school at Adelphi University in 1954.
After graduating in 1959, she met Jim Fitzpatrick on a blind date and they were engaged a week later. They were married July 30, 1960, at St. Mary’s Church in Manhasset, L.I. The Fitzpatricks raised their family and lived in Bayside, where they were active members of Sacred Heart Parish and avid sailors.
Lucie left the nursing profession to raise her children. She returned part time to the workforce as a medical malpractice insurance investigator, and this eventually grew into her own private investigation firm.
After retiring to Florida in 2006, she was involved in many activities, including chorus, the Red Hat Society and book clubs. She was also active in charitable efforts.
She is survived by her husband, four children, sister and five grandchildren.
