Pedestrian fatally struck on Queens Boulevard: Police

By Kelsey Durham

A pedestrian trying to cross Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills was hit and killed by a car Saturday night, the NYPD said.

Police said a woman in her 60s was struck by a tan 2000 Chevrolet Malibu driving north on the service road near 71st Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. The woman was unresponsive when emergency responders arrived and was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The NYPD said the woman was inside the marked crosswalk but allegedly crossed against the traffic signal. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and no charges have been filed, but an investigation was ongoing, police said.
