ST. ALBANS — A 24-year-old man died after he was shot inside Roy Wilkins Park Saturday, police said.
The victim, identified by police as Joel Rashko of Virginia, was found inside the park near Merrick and Baisley boulevards around 3 p.m. Saturday and taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition.
The incident was originally classified as an assault, but early Thursday morning police announced Rashko had died and reclassified the attack as a homicide.
