Waking Up to Find Fire In Maspeth

Flames ignited inside a closed storefront in Maspeth during a one-alarm fire early last Wednesday morning, Apr. 23, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the blaze broke out at about 4:30 a.m. inside Dicatagua Wholesale Corp. located at 65- 31 Grand Ave. According to sources, residents inside the apartment above the shop smelled smoke and reported it immediately to 911. Members of Squad Co. 288, Engine companies 291 and 287, Ladder companies 136, 140 and 124, Battalion 46 and Rescue 4 responded to the scene and discovered the blaze inside the storefront. Also responding to the incident were the 104th Precinct and EMS units. No serious injuries were reported.
