Bullets Hit Bystander During Bushwick Shootout
Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, a man was injured after several individuals began firing guns at a Bushwick corner last Wednesday night, June 4, according to police.
The 45-year-old victim was hospitalized after sustaining two gunshot wounds to his right arm, it was noted.
Law enforcement sources said the gunfire erupted at about 11:29 p.m. last Wednesday at the corner of Covert Street and Wilson Avenue.
According to information obtained by police, four unidentified male suspects approached the intersection, pulled out weapons and began firing at an individual across the way. Seconds later, they fled in an unknown direction.
Reportedly, the victim was walking toward the intersection when the shooting started and took cover. Despite his efforts to protect himself, police said, he discovered he had been hit.
Members of the 83rd Precinct and EMS units responded to the incident. Paramedics brought the victim to Woodhull Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.
Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for clues and suspects, but no immediate arrests were made, it was noted.
An investigation by the 83rd Precinct Detective Squad is ongoing, police said.
